Gangplank, dead-end, chasm.
Beneath: inside the belly
of an inland ship.

Under the ramp
sky cut through cracks.
Dust motes flew jagged
and the stench
was close-packed
and scared; a hulk,
a transport. We acted
out convict escapes.
